Subject: Public Input Regarding Canyon Springs RV Expansion - CASE NO(s): SUP25-000014
In general, our response is neutral on behalf of the Caldwell School District, regarding this special use
permit requested. They propose adding 41 additional RV spaces to the existing 134 RV spaces in the
Canyon Springs RV Resort.
We will continue to advocate for attainable and sustainable housing for kids and families within the
Caldwell School District, and beyond. Access to housing is a real need affecting the kids and families we
serve. While expanding an RV resort is not an ideal way to address this, it does meet a need in our
market, and it does take some of the pressure off of the rest of the housing market in Caldwell.
This expansion is within the zone served by Sacajawea Elementary Kg-4th) as well as Jefferson Middle
School (5th-6th), Syringa Middle School (7th-8th) and Caldwell High School or Canyon Springs High
School. We do have enough room at all of our schools to serve additional students who might live in this
expansion.
We do encourage city staff and leadership to continue seeking opportunities for the kids and families in
Caldwell and for planning for additional housing that is attainable and sustainable for families with kids in
our community.
