As a homeowner near to this proposed multi-family housing development I do
have a couple questions.
I appreciate there are no inlet/outlets to the development onto Elm St. This
will keep the traffic on Elm St. minimal (as it is currently).
The field has been unkept & poorly maintained for over a year. It was only
just recently cut down, probably in preparation for the upcoming hearing.
Can Logan Meadows or Hatch provide a date when was the last time the field
was serviced prior to a couple weeks ago?
Once the housing development is built can we expect the owners to maintain
the property or will it end up like the field? Only maintaining it as necessary?
I would hope that there is an interest to keep the community attractive, and
safe. This is an investment in the community, not just an income stream.
Lastly, what will the policy be for sex offenders who may apply? For
Example: landlords have a duty to protect other residents from known risks.
If a landlord determines that renting to a sex offender poses a demonstrable
risk to the safety of other residents or property, they may be able to deny an
application. This often involves considering factors like the nature and
severity of the crime, how long ago it occurred, and whether the property is
in close proximity to children (e.g., a multi-family building with many
families). Specific Idaho Laws: Idaho has laws regarding where registered sex
offenders can reside, such as prohibiting them from residing within a certain
distance of schools or daycares (Idaho Code 18-8329). There are also
restrictions on how many registered sex offenders can reside in a single
dwelling unit (Idaho Code 18-8331). Landlords must be aware of and comply
with these residency restrictions.
We do have a number of families that reside in the vicinity of the proposed
development.
