Montana Avenue. There is mega traffic on Montana Avenue now. Nothing is being done at the Ustick & Montana intersection which is an ongoing crash site!! Montana Ave and Ustick only has a 2 way stop on each side of Montana and no roundabout at Ustick and Montana Ave. It is already very hard to get onto Ustick from Montana Ave now and especially when school gets out. Within a .5 to 1 mile of the Ustick and Montana intersection is: Three schools: Syringa Middle School, Washington Elementary School off Montana Ave and Heritage Community Charter School off Ustick Rd. Also, two High Schools. Stone Creek Apartments off Ustick which are new and not even filled yet (less than ½ mile from the intersection). Two assisted living facilities. Ashley Manor and Gables Assisted Living less than .7 miles from the intersection. A Walmart grocery store and a Walgreens off Ustick – 1 mile away. Dentist offices and a gym (Fitness Center) Also, Hundreds of residents must back out of their garages and driveways onto Montana Avenue. By adding 31 single family units, assuming each family had two vehicles or more, would be adding 62 more vehicles to the already chaotic mess on Montana and the horrible wait times to get onto Ustick from Montana. Also, it is hard to get across the street to get your mail! At the Ustick and Montana Ave intersection, there needs to be a Turn Lane Analysis done, and either a stop light put in or a round-about at that intersection. Also, I feel that there should not be 2 story homes on the 3.5 acres or a lot less homes than what is proposed! Two prior potential developers couldn’t make their proposals pencil out due to: They were denied access to Montana Ave because there were already too many streets and driveways in close proximity. They had to access College Ave. with a cul-de-sac for fire trucks limiting them to 12 or 13 units. Nobody drives down Montana Avenue at the posted 35 M.P.H.! I feel that changing the zoning to HDR would be a very bad decision and cause chaos and more accidents on Montana Avenue. Sincerely, Mary Schafer 208-989-8084 3607 S. Montana Ave Caldwell ID 83605
