Dear Caldwell City Council:
The students in the Peregrine East Subdivision would fall within the Lakevue Elementary
attendance zone. However, Lakevue is overcapactiy by 235 students. New students within this
attendance zone now catch a bus to Lakevue Elementary, then transfer to another bus that will
take them to Central Canyon Elementary.
Central Canyon is also overcrowded and will not be able to absorb the overcrowding at Lakevue
for long.
Although this proposed subdivision is only 1 mile away from Lakevue Elementary, Vallivue would
most likely need to create a special attendance boundary for elementary students in the Peregrine
East Subdivision to attend West Canyon Elementary, which is 10 miles away.
As you know, a bond to build two elementary schools failed twice this year. A longterm solution to
alleviate Vallivue’s overcrowded elementary schools is not in sight.
Continuing to approve developments is exasperating the situation. Therefore, Vallivue School
District requests that the Caldwell City Council denies any further development in Vallivue’s
district boundaries, especially developments within Lakevue Elementary’s attendance zone.
