Dear Caldweel Planning & Zoning Commission,
If approved, the students from the Midland Meadows development would attend East
Canyon Elementary School, Sage Valley Middle School, and Ridgevue High School.
East Canyon Elementary School is 75 students overcapacity. The neighboring
elementary schools are also experiencing the impact of growth, so a boundary change
to meet the demands of this particular development is not a solution.
East Canyon Elementary School also serves students from the City of Nampa. Many
developments have been approved by both Caldwell and Nampa City Councils, which
is making the service to provide children with a quality education more challenging.
Unfortunately, East Canyon does not have space for more portable classrooms to
absorb the growth of new developments.
Vallivue has proposed a bond to build two elementary schools to alleviate the
overcrowded elementary schools, however, the bond failed twice in 2022. Vallivue will
try again in the May election.
