In response to your email and questions regarding the special use permit for 5214 Cleveland Blvd -
Per Tony:
The event center is used for both purposes. We do have live music or entertainers who come for
specific events. We do have a liquor license and will serve alcohol at these events. But we also rent
out the event center to the general public for events like weddings or birthdays or special events.
Is this an existing structure or a proposed structure? Existing Building located at 5214 Cleveland
Blvd.
If existing, what is the structure currently used for? Event Center
If existing, is anything proposed to change (parking, access, interior or exterior remodel,
etc.)? no changes
If existing as an event center, how long has the structure been used as an event center and what
prompted the SUP submittal? submitted application at request of the city
How many people is the event center proposed to accommodate? approximately 600
How many parking spaces are on site? there are about 100 parking spaces
What are the proposed hours of operation? 8pm - 1am
Are there cooking facilities on site? there is a kitchen
Are there exterior facilities that will be used as part of the event center use? no
How often to you provide events where there is a cover charge for the public versus how often do
you rent out the entire facility to private groups? I would say 50/50. About 50% of the time that the
builidng is in use - it is for a live music event or entertainer and 50% of the time the space is rented
out to a private group.

Hi Tony,
I am processing your special use permit for an event center at 5214 Cleveland Blvd. However, it
appears that Event Centers are a permitted use. Can you please provide me with a revised narrative
statement explaining exactly what the special use permit is for. I was told by other staff that it might
be for a dance hall/night club? Please see the definitions below for eventcenter and dance hall/night
club and provide me with a clear description of what you are currently using the site for and what you
want to use the site for.
DANCE HALL/NIGHT CLUB: An establishment where people regularly congregate primarily for
entertainment purposes in the form of dancing or live or recorded music and where a cover
charge/entry fee is typically required. The establishment may have one or more temporary or
permanent area(s) set aside for the purpose of dancing by the patrons of the establishment. Alcoholic
beverages may be served provided the appropriate liquor or alcohol license has been obtained for the
event.
EVENT CENTER: An establishment which is rented out to the general public for events such as
weddings, receptions, and the like. Typically a cover charge is not required for those attending. Food
and beverages may be served, but all food preparation takes place off site. Alcoholic beverages may
be served provided the appropriate liquor or alcohol license has been obtained for the event.
Additionally, I could use a bit more information to process the SUP:
Is this an existing structure or a proposed structure?
If existing, what is the structure currently used for?
If existing, is anything proposed to change (parking, access, interior or exterior remodel, etc.)?
If existing as an event center, how long has the structure been used as an event center and what
prompted the SUP submittal?
How many people is the event center proposed to accommodate?
How many parking spaces are on site?
What are the proposed hours of operation?

Are there cooking facilities on site?
Are there exterior facilities that will be used as part of the event center use?
How often to you provide events where there is a cover charge for the public versus how often do
you rent out the entire facility to private groups?
