HomeMy WebLinkAboutCanyon Crossing Pylon - Appeal1976 S. Century Way Boise, ID 83709 RE: Appeal of Hearing Examiner Decision on SUP22-000006 The ownership at Canyon Crossing is seeking approval on a Special Use designation for a proposed pylon sign. As designed, the Electronic Readerboard portion of the sign exceeds the allowed square footage of 48 square feet for the C-3 zone. During the Public Hearing on 7/12/22, please note the following observations: ●The planner assigned to the case was unable to attend the hearing. ●Focus was given on the overall height and square footage of the sign, which are already within the allowed limits of the sign ordinance. This hearing should have only focused on the reasons for exceeding the Electronic Readerboard allowance. ●During the course of the hearing, the examiner indicated that Staff did not make a recommendation. However, section 5.2 of the staff report clearly states a recommended Approval. Due to the amount of frontage adjacent to I-84, and the height necessary to be visible over the 20’ high sound wall, the pylon sign’s total surface area is proposed at 324 square feet. Of this total, we are requesting 98 square feet be approved for the Electronic Readerboard section. This represents 30% of the sign’s total surface area. Along the 726’ of frontage, there are no other freestanding signs proposed. Due to the setback, and the visibility requirement for an On-Premise business activity, we are requesting the Electronic Readerboard limit of 48 square feet be waived. Thank you for your consideration, David Baker (208) 343-7525
