The following are the Caldwell Fire Department minimum requirements provided by the adopted
international fire codes to provide fire protection for this development.
505.1 Address ldentification. New and existing buildings shall have approved address numbers, building numbers or
approved building identification placed in a position that is plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the
property. Please submit address design to the Fire Marshal's office for review and approval prior to installation. Street
naming shall be reviewed and approved by the fire Marshal's office prior to installation. Approved Street signs shall be
installed prior to any building permits being issued.
Fire Flow Requirements for Buildings, Section 8105.1 lntemational Fire Code
One and two family dwellings. The minimum Fire Flow and flow duration for one and two family dwellings having a fire
flow calculation area that does not exceed 3,600 square feet shall be 1,000 Gallons per minute for t hour. Fire flow and
flow durations having a fire flow calculation area in excess of 3,600 square feet shall not be less than that specified in
Table 8105.1 . Contact the fire Marshal's office for further clariftcation of table B105.1 of the lnternational fire code.
EXCEPTION: A reduction in required fire flows of 50 percent as approved is allowed when the building is equipped with
an automatic sprinkler system.
All fire hydrant locations and required fire flows shall be witnessed and approved by the Caldwell Fire Marshal's office
prior to any building permits being issued. Fire Hydrants shall be placed not more than 500 feet apart and at corners of
roadways whenever practical.
Operational fire Hydrants and street signage are required before the issue of any building permits.
Fire department access roads shall be provided and maintained in accordance with section 503 and appendix D of the
lntemational Fire Code.
IFC D103.6 Signs. Fire apparatus roads shall be marked with permanent No Parking - Fire Lane signs complying with
this section of the lFC. Signs shall have a minimum dimension of 12 inches wide by 18 inches high and have red letters
on a white reflective background. Signs shall be posted on one or both sides of the fire apparatus roads as required by
section D103.6.'1 Roads 20lo 26 feet in width shall be posted on both sides as a fire lane. Roads more than 26 feet in
width to 32 feet shall be posted on one side as a fire lane.
