The board recognizcd Bren \\'illiams, Ken !(hccler and Carol \.Iitchcll for the exccllcnt rr'ork and lbcus
over thc last couple of vcars. The Golf Operations arc in the black (profitablc) n 21121 agai:r. for the lust
time in many t'ears.
Staff/ Representative Reports:
Golf Ptofessiona[ Brctt \\'illiams reporred that rhe golf cr>une has not been open tbr plal since
12/24/2021duc to inclemcnt w'cather. 'Ihey anticipatc opcning again starting todar', 2/16/2022.
Brett furthet reported that the labor challenges have not skipped over the golf courses. Pete
Burton has taken another iob in thc Boise area and so Brctt is recruitinq lbr an assistant
protessional vith focus or: teaching. Brett also noted that the snack bar u'ill be open u,ith a Limited
meru with focus on statfing during peak hours. Brett and Carol noted that emplovees ofthe Cin
of Caldwell receir.e a discounted rate on the season pass and this \tr'ill be uscd as a recruiting tool as
employees at the golfcourses are ciry emplovees. It s,as noted that there is a new tournament that
lus becn scheduled at l)urplc Sage in 2022. The-f urlor Optimist Qualitier rvill be conducted in
Ilay for Bovs ages 16-1tl and girls lges l5-18. Brett also notcd rhe Illaror's \'outh,\dvison
Council tournament will be in l\{ay and scheduled in August rvill be a high-cnd fund raiser
benefiting the L,lk's Rehabilitarion. Other tournaments held in previous vears are also returning.
F'rnallv, thc Caldu'ell NIen's Golf .'\ssociation will hold a three-pcrson scramblc e\.ent this seas()n
and dre "Pneumonia Open" il October. The Caldu'ell Ladv's Golf :\ssociation will also make
some adjustments and work dirccdv u'irh llrett and Kcn.
Supetintendent: Ken \\'hceler reportcd tlut rhe courses ha,r.e come through the rvinter s,.cathcr
vell with minimal v'eather-related damage. The 12'r' and 17'r'greens will have sorre minor damage
due to ice build up in low areas. -\ potential re-design s.dl be considered in the furure. Labor u.ill
also be a challcngc and all crearivc approaches arc being considercd. (iutrcntlv, coursc conditi<.rns

Report on Women's Association: Jeanne Cridcbring, the \\'omcn's Represcntative reported that
CLGA has raiscd or.er $1-100 for \Icals on \\'heels and Clrristmas gifrs for seniors in thc
community. ,\n rvonderful article u,as publisl.red recendJ'in the Perspective. -leanne noted that the
Fomcn's Travel'l'eam ftnished last season in 5'h place out of 12 teams. Proiects that are requcsted
and wrlling to acdvely support ioclude painting the rvomen's bathroom and scorc board at liain'ies'
City of Caldwell Report: Carol Mitchell suggested some ofthe creative approaches to labor might
include county level "work-release" programs. Carol and Zach will contact the County Sheriff's Office
to inqulre about possible options. The cart paths will continue to be a focus. The Street Department
provided a great service with the paths on holes 1-3 in the recent past. The courses will continue to
work with the City Street Department of gradually replace paths as time and materials permit. The
board expressed a huge thank you to this department for their work, efforts and sharing their
equipment and materials. Finally, Carol noted that funds from the American Rescue Plan are expected
to be used to stabilize the water pumps and wells. This will result in Purple Sage being on a stable well
and improve irrigation.

Junior Golf Report: Pam Wagoner noted thatJuniorGolf hasalsoBrown significantly overthe past
coupleofyears. The program this seasonwill runfromthesecondweekofJunetotheendofJuly.
Weekly events will include a parent-child event, the Elk's Junior, and other fun events to encourage
and develop junior golfers. Pam noted that there will beaFall Juniorgolf program again on
Wednesday evenings. lt may be scaled down some as 5A and 4A high school golf seasons will be
moved to the Fall starting during the 2022-23 school year.
Repott on Men's Association: George Scott reported that the Men's Association schedule of
events willfollow the well-established pattern. ltwill include a cou ple of sponsored tournaments,
monthly fun nights and a 2-man league on Tuesday evenings starting in May. March 2th will be the
annual opener event at Purple Sage. Finally, George noted that on the IGA schedule, events are
divided out by Men's events, Women's events and Couple's events which could cause some confusion
