Meeting Notes
PRESENT: Ron Bonneau, Angie Point, Oster Hernandez, Lindsey McConnell-Soong,
Kaylee Farrell, Claudia Suastegui, Ernie Garrison (elevate staff) and Elevate Academy
students: Cecelia Capuchino, James Baker, Alejandro Ayama, Kendra Miller, Pedro
Corona, and Lewis Dunn.
Ron welcomed those in attendance and asked the students present to identify what they
like best about attending Elevate Academy. Student responses included the opportunities
offered at the school: ability to focus on learning a trade while in high school, many
opportunities to explore different career fields, and smaller classes-so teachers are
available to focus on teaching for learning instead of crowd control.
When asked what their'take aways' were from the recent Youth Forum at Bogus Basin,
comments were positive and supported their view that this is a valuable activity that
should be repeated. Specific areas noted by students:
Great location - very much out of the normal school day routine, and opportunity
to interact with and get to know peers from other schools.
The Snow Science activities were engaging and created a team atmosphere - all
working together within the smaller groups through the different challenges.
The 'Penguin Slide' challenge at the end of the outdoor portion was a big hit, and
students commented that they also enjoyed seeing the adults get involved in all of
the activities.
Time given to speak up - after lunch discussion with the entire group. Students
were very interested in the comments of other school groups, and appreciated the
time to share their own comments.
The convo cards in the activity bags were very useful in directing conversations
and getting to know those in their own group, as well as those from other schools.
Recommendation for future events:. Keep it going so others can have the experience.o A few were car sick - need to have Dramamine and/or car sick bags.. Select a few teens to be 'the leaders'

responsibility to change the future.
James: Not just about changing the culture at school, but about bringing it to the

The remainder of the meeting was spent discussing proposed dates/activity schedules
for the September Youth Forum at the College of ldaho, and a possible second event at
