Meeting Notes
Present: Ron Bonneau, Patrick Precht, Claudia Suastegui, Oster Hernandez, Bianca Stevenson,
Jarom Wagoner, and Angie Point,
Meeting began at 10:00 am. Ron opened the meeting with a summary of his conversation with the
College of ldaho leadership at the end of November regarding a smaller Youth Forum on January
12,2021. Though they were initially hopeful, the College will maintain its position to not allow
outside guests on campus through the Spring semester.
Ron has since been talking to contacts at Bogus Basin about the feasibility of holding a mini
outdoor survival school in place of the C of I location/activities. Bogus Basin staff were
enthusiastic about coordinating an outdoor snowshoe group/team building activity, a hot lunch, and
use of the lodge as needed from about 9:30am until about '1 :00-1 :30 pm.
Discussion ensued regarding costs and scheduling. All approved costs will be paid out of Caldwell
Youth Forum budgeted funding. There will be no cost to students or staff. Costs as proposed:
. Caldwell Transportation has offered to provide a bus and driver for the day at their cost of
$200.00.o Driving time from CHS to Bogus is 1-1l2 hours each way, weather dependent.o The bus has 44 seats, so attendance would be limited to fill one bus only.. Bogus Basin has quoted a cost of $14 - $16 per person for the day's events and lunch.
Liability waivers, signed by parents, will be required for students to participate.. Breakfast-like snacks and water to be provided on the bus each way, and bottled water at
the lodge. Approximate cost: $80.. An ample number of "lt's On Us" logo t-shirts are available for students and staff. Ordered
originally in August, the cost of 63 t-shirts (students and staff) was $580.70.o Oster will bring CWI pens and possibly string backpacks for resource bags for each student.
Other items for the bags: AAFV healthy relationship materials, $5 Soda Burst gift card,
hand warmers, and college information materials.. Claudia will contact St. Vincent de Paul thrift store to see if there are coats/mittens available
for students who may need them.. The Caldwell YMCA new staff member Will Logan is willing to be on the bus to help
students engage with each other and stay energized throughout the day.. A staff member from each school sending students will also be on the bus. Patrick Precht
will be on the bus with CHS students.
Proposed scheduling:. All students/staff riding on the bus will meet at Caldwell High School between 7:30-7:45,
including students from Elevate Academy, Vallivue High, Canyon Springs High, and
Caldwell High. Students will be required to ride the bus, and not arrive at Bogus
independently.. On the road by B:00am. Arrive at Bogus about 9:30 am. lce-breaker-type activities on the
bus.. 9:30 am - lunch time (noon-ish?): Mini outdoor survival school/team building activity
conducted by Bogus Basin staff.. After lunch (12:30 or so?) AAFV introduces "ln Their Shoes" activity.
'l:l5 pm board the bus to go backto Caldwell. "ln Their Shoes" activity continues on the
bus ride home. (Note, Kaylee of AAFV was not able to attend the ZOOM meeting; we have
not yet confirmed if this new venue/atmosphere will be conducive to the activity.)
