Members Present: Elaine Leppert, Tom Ensley, Bill Gigray III, Steve
Maughan, and Ed Allen.
Members Absent: Chris Nye, Rick Wells
Comrnunity Developrnent Staff: Linda James, Bud Knickerbocker, Ann
Marie Reyes
The meeting was called to order at the Caldwell City Library, in the Idaho
Room, at 7:00 p.m.by Vice-Chairperson Leppert.
Approval of Minutes: Vice-Chairperson Leppert introduced a motion that
the minutes be approved; Commissioner Gigray seconded the motion, and
the motion passed unanimously.
Vice-Chairperson Leppert asked if there was any old business. There being
no old business Vice-Chairperson Leppert asked if there was any new
business.
Community Development Director L,inda James informed the Commission that
this would be Ann Marie Reyes last meeting. Linda James then introduced
Bud Knickerbocker who will be replacing Ann Marie as the Commission
secretary. Bud has been hired by Community Development in a new
planning position.

Caldwell Public Library at 7:00 P.M., November 4, 1997.

The Commission members expressed legrets that Ann Marie is leaving and
expressed their thanks for the quality of her work and the contributions that
Ann Marie has made to the Commission.
Commissioner Maughan discussed the National Parks program for National
Historic Preservation and the contacts that he has within the program.
Commissioner Maughan has been in contact with Bert Bedeau of the State
Historic Society and the State Architectural Historian who continues to be
interested in the possibilities of creating a historic district in Caldwell.
Commissioner Gigray discussed the Cleveland corridor-resurfacing program
in 2001and how it will affect the corridor. The Commission agrees that
anticipated changes along the corridor should be addressed as soon as
possible and that desired changes along the corridor should be coordinated
with other community groups. Linda James offered to facilitate any meetings
between the interested groups.
The Commissioners restated that the Commission would like to be a part of
re-working the historic preservation section of the Comprehensive Plan.
Linda James suggested that the Commission write a letter to the Chairman of
the Comprehensive PIan Committee requesting that the Historic Preservation
Commission be appointed to work on the section of the Comprehensive Plan
that deals with historic presewation.
Next rneeting: Next meeting will be on December 2, 1997 at 7:30 p.m.
