Old Business .Egenda Approval: Commissioner Gigray made a motion to aPProve the agenda with two additions: Cleveland Repaving Ad Hoc Committee and Historic District Ad Hoc Committee. Commissioner Maughan seconded and the motion was passed. Elections: The election of officers for the commission has been placed on hold until the commission is able to contact perspective new members through personal contact and through public advertising for interested parties through various media. Ipprovd of Minutes: Commissioner Gig:ay made a motion to approve the minutes and with a second ftom Commissioner Maughan, the motion was passed. o Interim Chairpetson: In motion by Commissioner Gigray and seconded by Commissioner Maughan, Elaine Leppert was selected to serve as interim chairperson until new elections are held. New Mem}ers: The Commission has been discussing ways to recruit new members and residents of Caldwell that might be interested in serrring on the commission, Currently, there are four positions avaiiable on the commission and it was decided to place an advertisement in the local newspaper asking for residents who are interested about serv"ing on the commission. Mayor Nancolas will be notified to expect applications coming into his office. Additionatly, the commissioners wrll be contacting four people who have expressed interest in serving on the Commission. Commissioner Maughan will be contacting Mary Parsons and Jan Boles. Commissioner Gigray will be contacting Charles Randolph and Viwian McKay while Commissioner Leppert will be contacting Elaine Carpenter. RFP's to Potential Consultantsr The Commission authorized the Mayor to sign the RFP's for the Commission. Additionally, the Commission authorized the Community Development Department to send out bid requests for the Commission. This was made as a motion by Commissioner Gigrray and seconded by Commissioner Maughan. Motion was passed. New Business Resigrnation: Mr. Ed Allen resigned from the Commission. He is a valued member of the community and will be missed by the Commission. Comprehensive Plan: In a letter to Commissioner Roos, Chairperson of the Planning and Zoning Commission, Chairman Nye expressed the Commission's desire to work with the committee that will be revising and updating the Historic component of the City of Caldwell's Comprehensive PIan. Eistoric District Ordinance and Boundary Ad Eoc Comrnittee: Commissioner Giqay entered a motion to form an ad hoc committee to &aft a Historic Preservation Ordinance and establish the boundaries of the City of Caldwell's first Historic District. Commissioner Leppert seconded this motion and the motion passed. It is important that a well- written ordinance be put into place for the community's first Historic District. A number of potential committee participants were discussed. o a Cleveland Repavement trd Eoc Gornmittee: In a letter to Mayor Nancolas and Community Development Director Linda James, Commissioner Gigray has suggested that the Historic Presewation Commission form an ad hoc committee to work on the historic districts portion of this repavement project. Ttris committee will be working with other grroups in the City of Caldwell. It is suggested that the committee will be looking at the desirability of different approaches to improving the Blaine and Cleveland corridor entering and exiting the Historic District. Commissioner Gigray placed a motion before the Commission to form this committee and Commissioner Leppert seconded it. The Commission directs Commissioner Gigray to proceed with forming this committee and a number of potential participants were discussed. Febnrary 5, 1998 Meeting of the Minds: Commissioner Gigtay and Commissioner Maughan will be attending this meeting. Discussion of Preservation Issues: None were discussed at this meeting. Next Meeting: The next meeting is scheduled for March 3, 1998 at 7:00 P.M. at the library. Adjournrnent: The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
