HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION MINUTES
Meeting of October 4, 1990
The meeting of the Historic Preservation1990. was called to order in the City
Chairman Chuck Randolph at 7:05 p.m.

The first item on the aqienda involved the 199L Historic Survey
Grant Application. Dennis reported on this item. indicating thatthe grant dppl ication was submitted to the State Historic
Preservation Office by the October l, 1990 deadline. Dennisdistributed copies of the appl ication and provided a brief
overview of the project description. that is, a continuation ofselected residential historic site survey along the ClevelandBoulevard corridor. Dennis further indicated that there is
general ly a 4 to 6 week period to amend the application i.n casethere are deficjencies before final acceptance by the State
Historic Office.
The distribution and review of the application precipitated a
number of comments. Madeline Buckendorf suggested that residents
and property owners in the study area be invited to attend thehistoric consultant's final presentation and surtrnary of findings
to the Commiss ion.
Biii Giqray expressed concerns with the infrastructure withinthe study area and cited the fact that many curbs, gutters and
sidewalks were in a state of disrepair. Ttrere waa some ensuing
discussion of possible means and methods of funding some type of
improvement program such as BIock Grant Funds and Redevelopment
Funds or an L,I.D, Don watts. from the State Historic Office.

I o oThe meeting concluded with a discussion of the update of theCity's Comprehensive Plan and the objective of includjng' anhistoric component to the City's pIan. Dennis reconunended thatthis item be placed on the agenda for next month's meeting.Further, it was indicated that maps dnd other materials would beprovided in order that the Commiss j.on may beqin this task.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m
