HomeMy WebLinkAboutHPC November 1 1990 minutesoa HISTbRIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION MINI'TES M€€ting of Novenber 1, 1990 The meeting of the Historic Preservation Cornrnission of Novernber 1, 1990, was called to order in the City HalI Conference Room by ,Chairman Chuck Randoiph at 7:00 p.m. Pres6nt: Chairman Chuck RandoIph, Bii I Robison, Tom Ensley, Dennis Crooks, and Teri cigray III, Sylvia Brandt-Ottens. 1990, wereMinutes as distributed for the meeting of October 4 unanimous Iy approved as submitted. The first item on the agenda involved oId business. Dennis Crooks updated the CoEunrssion on correspondence received from the State Historic PreBervation Office regardlng grant applications. Proceseingi and review of the L9A9/199O aurvey project has been completed and the City can expect receipt of grant funds shortly.The f99O/L99! qrant proposal was also accepted wlth the contingency that no repetitive survey work be done along the CIeveIand Boulevard corridor. The remainder of the agenda was devoted to the task of preparing an Historic component to the City's Comprehensive Pian. Chuck Randolph informed the Historic Cornmission of their role as sub- corunittee of the Comprehensive Plan update as appointed by the Planning and Zoning Corornission. Dennis then provided theHistorlc CorEnission with an overview of the update proc€ss andthe role of the PIan as a long rangre planning tool for the cormun i ty . The Commission then discussed the concept of identifying and mapping dreaE of historic significance and also some possible goaIs, objectives and policjes of the plan component. The rules and by-1aws of Caldwei I 's Historic Corulission and historic components from other Idaho communities were revie!f,ed extensively and served as a basis for extracting information pertinent to Caldwel l. Dennls end Teri compiled a list of possible goals. objectives andpolicies as suggested from the group. Dennis indicated he would prepare a draft component and dlstribute a copy to the Commissionprior to the n6xt meeting. The regular meetinq of December was canceled due to a conflictwith a special meeting of the Planninq & Zoning Cormission. Aspecial meeting in the month of December was discussed with aspecific time and place yet to be d€termined- Chairman Randolph indicated he would follow-up on the special meeting date.
