HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION MINUTES

The meeting of the Historic Preservation Corunission on August 2,
1990. was called to order in the City HaIl Conference Room byVice Chairman, Tom Ensley, in the absence of Chairman Chuck
Randolph at 7:15 p.m.

Dennis Crooks began the meeting with an Historic Survey update.A letter from the historic consultant was distributed anddiscussed. Dennis stated that the consultant was in the process
of finishing up the intensive level survey on the four chosensites and the two alternates and that the expected completion
date was August 20, 7990.
Next, site survey information andwith the College of Idaho street
was distributed and discussed.

T?te next item was introduced by Dennis and involved the Planning
and Zoning Commission moving toward conducting meetings two timesa month (1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month) and a conflict withthe norma I meeting date for the Historic Preservatlon Conunission

to move the regular meeting to the first Tuesday of every month,
No final acti.on was taken on this item.
Teri Brandt-Ottens indicated that th€ newly paint€d Depot wasgoing to be the site of an art show at the end of September.
There will be a volunteer work day at th€ Depot on the 11th of
August to do some more painting and general cleanup.
Teri also brought the Conrnission up to date on the presentation
of the representative from R/UDAT and the status of the possible
R,/UDAT study. Aft6r some discussion, Bill Gigray III made amotion which was seconded by Art Honey that the HistoricPreservation Commission officially endorse a R/UDAT study. The
motion passed unanimous ly.
Dennis Crooks, fol lowed by mentioning that 1990 grant
appl ications were to be submitted to the State HistoricPreservation Office by October 1, 1990 and that the Commission
members should be thinking about possible projects. Dennisindicuted that some grdnt funds were being made available for
bui lding renovation for sites Iisted on the National Register ofHistoric places. An updated list of Caldwel I sites along lrith

Next, Dennis introduced the Commission to the Comprehensive Plan
update and a goal to include an Historic component to the Plan.
Dennis sugigested that the Historic Conunission function as a sub-comnittee of the Plannlng and Zoning Cormission. Dennisindicated he would fol low-up with more information on this item.
A special meeting of the Historic Preservation Cormlission was setfor Tuesday. August 2L, 1990 at 7:00 p.m. in the CouncilConference Room in ord.er to review intensive level site surveymaterial prior to finai project submittal to the State HistoricPreservation Office.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m
