Dear llayor:
As you know the city of ca1drel1 and Union Pacific
Railroad have been negotiating on and off the last several
years about the fina] disposition of the Caldwell Depot.
ft is not because we have not tried that the DePot
stj.I1 remains vacant, a fire hazard, an attractive nuisance,
a great target for vandals, and an operating problem for the
Railroad, as well as, the city of Ca1dwe11.
'However, in the spirit of cooperation we wouldlike to extend our offer of the Depot an additional month to
see if a mutual, beneficial disposition of the Depot can be
achieved. May be in that length of tirne some individual or
group with the necessary resources can be found to utilize
the building. If not, I am afraid that the Railroad will
need to review its options and proceed with a final decj-sion
concerning it.
If you or the Council have any suggestions,
questions or need information, please let me know.
