The Chairman informed t.he Commission that the meetingin June had been canceled to give John Bertram morecomplete the draft "CaldwelI Historic DistrictGuidelines. " Copies were brought in to the CityDepartment by Bertram on Tuesday, JuIy 5, and mailedCommission members for preview before the meeting.
Information in the ',GuideIines,, is organized under the followingformat.: Introduction, Where to Start, The Review process(Submittat Requirements ), Characteristics of Caldwe]L rs HistoricDistrict, Design Guidelines for Rehabilitation (Hei9htl Alignment.and ScaJ-e; Roofs; Building Facade; Storefronti Windows; Doors;Wal,ls/Upper Facade; Architectural Details/Cornicesl trlechanica]Systems; Finishing Materials; Co1ors; Signs; Awnj.ngs ) 7Stree t scape /Landscape, Alleyways, parkingr New Construction, andGlossary and Bibliography. Bertram took Commission members on aI'walk through' of the booklet, noting that he has an abundance ofearly Caldwell photographs and tried to incorporaLe as many aspossibLe that were relevant to the text.
