The regular meeting of the Caldwell Historic Preservation Commission was
held in the City Hall Council Chambers at 5:00 p,m., June 3, l9BI , with Chair-
man Dr. Louie Attebery presiding and members Ken Roberts, Tom Ensley, Dave
Dorsey, Lorene Thurston and AIice Duniap present. Absent nembers were Jan
Beckwith, Bob Jarboe, Dorothy Reynolds and Paul Evans. Council Representative
Pat Mallea was also absent but the other Council Representative, Les Carter,
was present.
Dr. Attebery opened the meeting and deferred the reading of the minutes
because Mayor McCluskey was present at the Commission's
ideas for the coming Centennial . He felt our City Park
offer as a place for the celebration. He suggested surr

^ A brochure of Caldwell's old buiidings as a publication of the Historict Cormission was di scussed.
The Mayor expressed his opinion that the H'istoric Cormission should spear-
head the cel ebrati on.
Ken Roberts reported that he had written the IRS for a tax exemption and
they had replied by asking for a budget for l9B1 -82. He had written them that
we were planning on asking for a grant of the Whittenberger Foundation for
$5000.00 to be spent in 1082 for [ublication of the brochure.
The chairman called for the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting
which were approved as read.
Ton Ensley moved that Dave Dorsey be authorized to visit with both Lou'isa
Cone and George Crookham about their being administrative and honorary chai rnren 7of the Centennial celebration. Seconded and carried.
The chairman appointed a comni ttee to draft a proposal to the llhittenberger
Foundation made up of Ken Roberts and AIice Dunlap to meet with the Mayor as
soon as conven i ent.
Next meeting was to be July 1 and Tom Ensley was notified he would be in
charge because of Dr. Attebery's absence.
