The regular meeting of the Caldwell Historic Preservation Conmission was
held in the City Council Chambers at 5:00 p.m. with Tom Ensley, vice-chairman,presiding and members Ken Roberts, Dave Dorsey, Jan Beckwith, Lorene Thurston,
Dorothy Reynolds and AIice Dunlap present. Pat Mallea, councii liaison member,
was also present. The other liaison member from the council, Les Carter, was
absent. Members absent were Dr, Louie Attebery, Paul Evans, and Bob Jarboe.
Louisa Cone was present as a guest.
The minutes of the June meeting were read and approved as corrected.
Dave Dorsey reported that George Crookham was receptive to the idea of
being named honorary chairman and Louisa Cone who had been contacted as admin-istrative chairman told the members she was interested in the project and had
brought her resum6 with her and that she had served as co-chairman of the
bicentennial celebration in Sylmar, California, where she had lived before
coming to Caldwell five years ago. She mentioned that she couldn't talk about
wages which would depend on our budget, but that she would want to be compensatedfor the gas used to go to meetingsand would expect a salary.
Lorene Thurston mentioned she would be receiving material from Hailey's
centennial.
It was suggested that a member of the Chamber of Cormerce be asked to
attend our meetings and Ken Roberts volunteered to go to the Chamber and present
the project of the Centennial in 'l983.
After discussion the members thought a combined 4th of July and Centennial
celebration would be the best.
Tom appointed Dorothy Reynolds to the t,lhittenberger Conmi ttee with the
idea of contacting them concerning financial help, e.g., salaries.
It was suggested that areas of responsibility be given to various membersto be reported on at the next meeting.

Survey of historical buildings, etc. - Tom Ensley
Foundations - Alice Dunlap
Financial Sources other than Foundations - Dave Dorsey
Because of access to publicity it was suggested Rick Coffman of the Press-
Tribune be asked to be on the cormittee.
Sections to be included in the brochure included buildings, families,
transportation, imigation, banks, schools and churches.
The group to work on the mock-up to give Paul Evans is scheduled to meetat the Library at 9:00 a.m. on July 14,
